For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also…”
Matthew 6:21
Stewardship and why we give…
“Brethren, the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly; and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Let each one do according to what he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you; that you, having always all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work. As it is written: “He has scattered abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever”; now He, who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, will supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in all things for every generosity, which works through us thanksgiving to God.”
“He, who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, will supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the harvest of your righteousness.”

You cannot be too gentle, too kind. Shun even to appear harsh in your treatment of each other. Joy, radiant joy, streams from the face of one who gives and kindles joy in the heart of one who receives.”

Giving of Time and Talents
We are taught that Our Lord is the only one Who needs to see our compassion, charity and generosity, whether they be offering our time, our talents, or our money; “… it is His sake, and His sake alone, that we do these things, that in all things ‘God may be glorified,” as St. Paul writes.
Message from Fr. David Lewis
“I think the more important question is why should we give money to support the church. We give offerings to God in Thanksgiving. We give offerings to the Church as an act of worship. That’s why we give our offerings during the Liturgy. If it weren’t an act of worship it wouldn’t belong in the Divine Liturgy, but it is. I want to look at it from a different direction: If we don’t support this parish, we won’t have one, so really the question is why do we want to have an Orthodox parish to attend and for our children to attend, and for others and their children to attend. The reason is love.”
